Course: Corrections
If you have strong opinions about the death penalty, prison overcrowding, or criminals’ rights, you may want to consider majoring in corrections. You’ll examine such questions as: How can prison costs be kept down while maintaining decent living conditions for inmates? What can be done to help parolees who are returning to life outside prison?
While becoming a corrections officer is a popular career path, corrections majors can also choose to specialize in counseling, management, and more.
Corrections majors study prison life. While most prepare for careers in prisons and other correctional facilities, others go on to graduate school and become scholars who conduct research in the field.
