Course: Cultural Studies

If you choose this wide-ranging field of study, you’ll learn how to think critically about culture in its many forms. You’ll explore values, ideas, belief systems, and expression. You’ll examine the relationship between everyday life, power structures, and cultural forms. Course work covers everything from philosophy, literature, and the arts to history, sociology, and communications. You’ll learn how to analyze and critique culture using theories and methodologies like semiotics (the study of signs and symbols), deconstruction, gender theory, and ethnography (an anthropology-based method of describing culture).
