Course: Foreign Language Teacher Education

Studying a foreign language has its own momentum: The more you learn, the more you want to learn. Say you love Italian food and decide to study Italian. At first it's hard. But one day you meet some Italian tourists on the bus and you understand enough to point them toward their hotel. Before you part ways, they give you their e-mail address. Now you want to write to them -- so you study some more.

Do you enjoy learning a foreign language? Can you picture yourself teaching it to kids? If so, consider becoming a foreign language teacher.

This program prepares students to teach foreign language programs..

Foreign language teachers enjoy taking students to places where the language they're learning is spoken. That could mean a day trip to a cultural festival -- or spring break in another country.

Are You Ready To...?

  • Practice your language of study in extracurricular activities, such as attending foreign films and tutoring children
  • Spend a semester or a year studying abroad
  • Learn a foreign language fluently

Course Spotlight

Most programs encourage you to study abroad for a semester or a year. Immersing yourself in a language is the best way to become fluent. Besides, it's an adventure not to be missed. Whether you live in a dorm or stay with a family, you'll have plenty of opportunities to get to know your adopted culture's food, art, pastimes, and people. The challenge will be to keep up with your studies while you're having fun.
