Course: Rural Sociology

If you study rural sociology, you’ll look at the structure and function of non-urban societies. In class you’ll explore some of the same subjects as other sociology majors, such as sociological theory, demography (the study of human population characteristics like size, growth rate, and density), research methods, and statistics. But you’ll also develop your specialty with course work that covers the sociology of agriculture and the environment, rural poverty, and gender roles in rural societies.
