Skills throughout the ETM team are wide and\u00a0varied, and employees are distributed over\u00a0different geographies. When a team member\u00a0needed to draw on expertise from their\u00a0colleagues they would generally have to\u00a0approach their manager or send an email out to\u00a0the entire department asking for assistance.<\/p>

Ellucian had some skill tracking capabilities, but there was no formal tool or process for skills management.<\/p>

Above all else, Ellucian required a solution\u00a0with a \u201czero learning curve\u201d and intuitive\u00a0user interface. It had to be simple and not\u00a0require an extensive training program to\u00a0implement. The solution also had to be specific\u00a0to skills management and not include ancillary\u00a0functionality that would increase its overall\u00a0complexity and implementation cost.<\/p>

A number of solutions were evaluated. Some did\u00a0not adequately address the requirements, and\u00a0others were found to be too cumbersome for the\u00a0task.<\/p>

Ellucian settled on Skills Base for its ease of use, effectiveness, and simple deployment. \u201cThe fact that Skills Base is a SaaS application made it very easy for us to deploy\u201d.<\/p>

Skills Base has empowered individual team\u00a0members with the capability to reach across the\u00a0organization when confronted with a unique\u00a0challenge for a customer. This has helped\u00a0lower internal barriers including perceived social\u00a0barriers.<\/p>

Ellucian has been able to roll the service out to over 500 employees without having to run formal end user training.<\/p>

\u201cThe Skills Base assessment process is very\u00a0simple. We\u2019ve had really no issues.
